Does anyone know if it is possible to convert the Oxford Rail Dean Goods to EM?

Not an answer I’m afraid Mike, but supporting your question. I’m intending to model a branch terminus in EM. The Dean Goods was a regular visitor and I’ve just bought the Oxford Rail model. Now looking for advice on the EM conversion!

            Hi Andrew,

Judging by the response to my o.p. some 10 months ago, I would guess no one, as yet, has managed an EM conversion of the Oxford Rail Dean goods.

I haven’t  seen the O.R. loco, but I gather the mechanism has a flywheel,  so performance should be good, but maybe the brake pull rods have inadequate clearance for the wider gauges?

I have an original Mainline model I converted a good few years ago, I threw away the loco and awful tender drive chassis and replaced both with etched chassis kits.

The loco chassis was motorised in the conventional. manner.

If the Oxford loco proves problematical,  the Mainline models are often available on auction sites quite cheaply, and I believe chassis kits are also available.

I tried to upload a photo of the loco, but it just doesn’t seem to work.

            Regards

            Mike
