For anyone interested in automating their layout, check out the free ‘Using iTrain Tutorial Series’ available on YouTube. There are currently over 60 very in depth tutorials with more to come.
Automation gives you the best of both worlds – the ability to control each train manually (without computer control); semi-automatically (you drive the train but the computer watches in the background and prevents any collisions or crossing red signals); fully automatically (where the computer controls the train along a pre-defined route or a random route that the computer creates); or any combination of these.
So, you can have some trains running automatically, some semi-automatically, and some manually, all on the same layout at the same time.
Or, if you just want to watch trains running on your layout, you can let the computer control everything and sit back with a coffee and relax.
To view the videos, either search for ‘Using iTrain’ on YouTube or see a list of all the videos on the iTrain forum at https://www.berros.eu/itrain/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15252
