Andrew AvisParticipant
So this is about my little layout Express Daisy Sidings. Those that know it just call it Daisy.
There is a thread on RMweb about this layout, but I thought that here I could focus more on Daisy as an EM gauge project.
As far as involvement with the society, so far this project has seen me produce a manual sheet and an article for the newsletter. I will also be at Expo-spring at Bracknell.

Following on from the newsletter article, I had a second visit to the Southampton show with Daisy. It was the same format in that it went with the EMGS stand. Hopefully we managed to get some crossover between the layout and the stand.
It certainly generated awareness of EM Gauge as well as AJ couplings. At the very least it showed that there is life after the trainset.
At the moment I am almost finished going through the list of repairs and tweaks and will soon be ready for the next outing at Basingstoke.
I look forward to your comments and any suggestions as to how I can improve the layout and presentation. Especially with a view to promoting the society.
Cheers
Andy

Andrew AvisParticipantTime for an update.
Daisy has had a busy year, having attended 5 shows.
They were Southampton (2nd visit) Basingstoke, ExpoEM Spring at Bracknell, The Chatham show and the Mid Essex show.
I took some inspiration from Nick and produced a certificate that I now can hand out to anybody that completes the shunting puzzle. On the reverse side are details of the layout, and links to various places to get further information including the Express Dairy Tales website as well as the EMGS.
The result of this is that I get more engagement with the public and to demonstrate not only EM, but also that there is more to this hobby than the trainset.
When being approached for an outing, I try to encourage the exhibition manager to find space for an EMGS stand. Ideally next to the layout. The aim being to try and gain more exposure for the society.
I hope that this encourages other layouts to do the same.
So far I have two invites for 2025.
The first is the Maidenhead MRC show at Cox Green Community Centre SL6 3AX on Saturday the 11th January 2025.
Then a third invite to the Southampton show on the 25th and 26th January 2025.
I hope to see some of you there. Please do make yourself known by dropping by and saying hello.
I still find it amazing that such a small layout, with only two points, eight wagons and a single locomotive can provide so much entertainment.
Even though I am so familiar with it, I still get enormous pleasure doing some wagon worrying on it.
Merry Christmas all.
