ParticipantFollowing on from some comments on another thread on this forum I am adding in a link to a thread I created last year on Western Thunder showing progress on my East Anglian based layout, Elmham Market. It closely follows Lavenham but I modified the goods yard to allow for loco shunting rather than chain or horse shunting, so changed the name. I post progress reasonably regularly, when there is any to report.

ParticipantLooking good. I did add a link to my layout thread on RMWeb but I put it on my layout thread on here because it seemed appropriate. I don’t really mind posting on both to be honest, as long as there is someone out there reading it of course !!!

ParticipantStuart, I don’t find RMWeb an enjoyable experience – I usually only go straight to Michael Edge’s blog, to see if there’s anything new on the horizon – so I’d greatly appreciate it if you would post some content here. I’ll be reading it with interest. Cheers

ParticipantHi Stuart
Many thanks and I did follow your link and read your thread in RMweb (lost myself for a few happy hours that day enjoying your beautifully observed modelling) so some of us are reading your posts!

ParticipantNigel, I follow your progress on WT with interest. I enjoyed reading about your adaptation of the Wills signal box, and your excellent build of the laser-cut station building. Years ago, there was a layout featured in RM called “The Abbey Road to Barton Bendish Light Railway”, and this sparked an interest in the W&U and probably all things Eastern. It’d be great if you’d post a few milestones on here, and judge for yourself if the feedback you receive makes it worthwhile! Cheers.

ParticipantProbably not really a milestone but I am making reasonabLe progress with the ex GER push pull set to provide passenger services for Stratford St James. The driving trailer is now ready for priming and painting, the non driving trailer underframe and bogies are complete, one body side finished soldering work and on to the other body side. Lots of photos etc on WT…

ParticipantA wee bit of a milestone today as I tested the push pull set and the G5 together on Elmham Market. A lot of track cleaning to be done (the G5 only picks up on the drivers and so is sensitive to track that hasn’t been cleaned for over six months – shame on me) and I do need to adjust the coupling distance between the two coaches. I did take a few photos, all on WT.

ParticipantHi Nigel I’ve just enjoyed reading your article in the latest newsletter. I’m only 10 mins walk from Braintree station, same type I believe, if you ever need photos or measurements.

ParticipantThanks Stuart, much appreciated! I might take you up on that as I will probably need to make another similar building for Stratford St James.
cheers

ParticipantI thought I would try posting some photos up, mostly just to prove I can do it as some members seem to be experiencing difficulties.
