I have been trying to find data on the Buhler-designed motors fitted in the Bachmann N mogul and the Collett 2251 Goods. This was also fitted to their Jinty 3F at one time and there may have been others. I suspect Bachmann’s current motor offerings are derivatives of this.

To my surprise the motor data is hidden in the Manual sheets at 5.1.1 (8) under the heading ECM Type 2:
        No-load speed 23,200 rpm at 0.18A
Typical running speed 17,500 rpm at 0.67A
        Maximum recommended current 0.8A

That this is the Buhler motor is confirmed in Doug Smith’s test of these motors with Ultrascale gearboxes in Manual Sheet 5.1.1. (14)
Doug comments that the power is comparable to Portescaps but running is not quite as smooth (but that could be down to the Ultrascale gears).

The conclusion is that these are very powerful motors. Hang on to them if you have one. The N mogul is certainly a powerful machine.
I suspect the newer Bachmann versions are probably as good.
Surprisingly Bachmann Spares dept still sell these (for the N & 2251) despite the design being over 43 years old!
