Nigel BurbidgeParticipantSpent an enjoyable day on the EMGS stand at Ally Pally today as a part of a team ably led by Stuart Firth and with the exceedingly capable support of Nick Ridgeway. Plenty of engagement from visitors and quite a few prospectuses were handed out.
In between answering questions Stuart successfully built a large element of a new chassis for his latest loco resurrection challenge and Nick demonstrated track building as well as converting and reconverting a wagon numerous times. I managed to convert a Hornby J15 from 00 to EM using Gibson parts by lunchtime and have it running in on a rolling road for the afternoon.
Thank you Stuart and Nick for your companionship during the day and, Stuart, I hope tomorrow is as successful!

Nick RidgwayParticipantIt was fun, wasn’t it? I’ve learned not to assume; I’ve learned that sometimes the lady in the couple is the Modeller, and her partner is the +1. Not sure the ExpoEM ticketing allows for that possibility! 🤭

Nigel BurbidgeParticipantYes and we also managed to interest a gentleman whose main hobby for the last three decades has been photography. He was definitely interested by the end of our conversations with him!

Stuart FirthParticipantA great weekend – thanks for your company Nigel and Nick on Saturday, and Keith and Timara on Sunday. That J15 ran so sweetly after conversion. Sadly it’s back to work now, just when I need a weekend to recover!
