ParticipantLast weekend we took the EMGS display/demonstration stand to the Festival of Railway Modelling. This was my first exhibition since we took the stand to Stevenage in January 2020, so a really memorable moment. We were really quite busy, in fact after the Saturday I was hoarse with talking all day, both to existing members and interested newcomers – and 15 people took prospectuses which I think is promising. I took advantage of a quiet moment on the Sunday to take this picture of the stand, with Chris working on some scratchbuilt coal hoppers. Timara had some nice RTR conversions plus the test build of High Level’s new chassis kit for the Hornby J50, and very impressive it is too, despite being full of chips and CSBs and other things this particular luddite knows little of. From me, a collection of scratch and kitbuilt loco’s were on display. Plus, of course, samples of the EMGS track and points, which generated interest, as always. Thanks also to Steve and Nigel who attended with me on the Saturday.

ParticipantStuart, a good summary and I think it was a very successful weekend, both for the society and for railway modelling generally. It was my first attendance behind the EMGS stand and I thoroughly enjoyed it so thank you and Steve for making me so welcome,
best wishes
Nigel

ParticipantThank you, chaps, for allowing me to become an unannounced interloper for an hour on the Saturday. That was my second exhibition in three years, the first being Basingstoke the previous one.
An enthusiast’s day out – get this: Greater Anglia from Chelmsford to Shenfield; rail replacement to Newbury park; Central Line to Mile End; Hammersmith & City line to Kings Cross; Victoria Line to Finsbury Park; Great Northhern suburbaan to Ally Pally; six hours at one of the best railway shows in the country; Great Northern to Finsbury Park; Victoria Line to Kings Cross; LNER Adzuma to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and four stops on the Tyne & Wear Metro. It is good to be back on the rails again! 🙂

ParticipantAlways good to see you Nick! Â You certainly got more rail variety that day than I did, being stuck in the Home Counties!
