I haven’t yet decided whether to go down the Brassmasters route or the simpler drop-in Alan Gibson conversion on 2mm axles. It’s a shame to tamper with the excellent finish on the body, but the handrails look a bit clumsy, and the supplied dome doesn’t look quite right to me – just like another Hornby loco, their “Terrier”. I bought a dome from Alan Gibson, which to my eyes looks more the part.

i would say it is a lot of work changing the dome and making a neat job of it, I also think that once painted black it would not look much different, and as you say it has a lovey finish on it already, But at the end of the day it is your loco. Let us know what you decide, if you do alter it then ill be watching with interest.
