Is there an illustrated list of layouts appearing this year.  I’ve found a basic list, but it would be nice to see a few photos and plans for all of the layouts.

If I go I’m going to have to be chauffeured by my wife.  Will she have to pay £9 to get in?

          Hi Richard

Peter Rigby is away for a few days. I forwarded your post and he has emailed me back with the following:

Pictures will be posted on the expo thread on RMWeb and Western Thunder as well as on the Forum  as soon as he gets back, probably at the weekend.

If you contact Peter directly, on his email in the mag, about your wife so that he can inform the stewards on the door?

              Getting there:

              Public Transport

If coming from Central Wakefield, on the Saturday take service 106 Wakefield – Hall Green from Wakefield Bus Station, leaving at 00, 15, 30 and 45 minutes past the hour. Alight at the High School. Return journeys depart at 04, 19, 34 and 49 past the hour. On Sunday it runs every 30 minutes leaving Wakefield at 20 and 50 past the hour, returning at 05 and 35 past the hour.

On the Saturday only, there is also an hourly service by the 107 Wakefield – Kettlethorpe from Wakefield Bus Station, Stand 17, which takes a different route. Departures are on the hour during the day. The buses stop within fifty yards of the school in Standbridge Road. Departures in the return direction are at thirty two minutes past the hour.

The nearest railway station is Sandal & Agbrigg (Northern Rail) followed by a short walk to Barnsley Road, then take the bus service 106 to Kettlethorpe High School. Failing that it’s about a 30 minute walk to the school.

It would be wise to check with both Arriva for the buses and Northern Rail for the trains, as weekends often means route maintenance work resulting in reduced or diverted services.

              Travel by car

Satnav: WF2 7EL. The venue is with easy reach of the M1 (Junction 39). Follow the A636 towards Wakefield for about ¾ of a mile then turn right into Asdale Road, A6186. At the roundabout by the entrance to Asda’s carpark turn right into Standbridge Road.

From Wakefield follow the A636 signposted to the M1 and on reaching the A6186 turn left and follow the directions above.

The entrance to expoEM will be on your left. There should be adequate parking on the sports centre site, which is on the right hand side of, and opposite the school. Look out for the ‘3G’ sign. Cross Standbridge Lane by means of the traffic light controlled crossing and enter the school through the pedestrian gate. The entrance to expoEM Summer is on your left and indicated by a free-standing ‘A’ board. If parking here is not available, there is plenty of on-road parking in the vicinity of the school, but we would ask that you respect driveways to private houses if parking there.

Disabled parking is available on the school site amd access should not pose problems as there are no stairs to negotiate. Assistance, if required, is available upon request at the entrance to expoEM.

‘Wepre Park’ has unfortunately had to be withdrawn.

In its place John Phllips will be presenting a display of his modelling towards creating a model railway depicting Doncaster in the early to mid 1970s.

Unfortunately the Signalling Record Society will not be able to attend because of health issues.

Having visited the show today I can say it was really good, a wide variety of layouts  and traders with what looked like a very good attendance and the main hall was packed. When I visited the demonstration area every demonstrator had people with them and there were more waiting. Decent catering and area to relax.

Well worth the effort to visit on Sunday if you have the time and it isn’t too far, highly recommended.

I’m reading with interest the comments about ExpoEM Summer over on Western Thunder. It sounds like the event was not only enjoyed by those who attended, but that attendance was greatly improved, which is very heartening. I look forward to reading about it in the next Newsletter.

I do find it odd that there is a description of the cup winners in the show, complete with photos on the Scalefour society, RMweb and Western Thunder web sites but not on here, unless I’ve missed it.

I find it odd that the EXPO gallery of this website does not have any photos newer than 2021! Surely, this should be the first port of call for EXPO photos?
