At last the body is pretty much there, with a coat of Halfords’ red primer it doesn’t look too bad despite all the hacking and bodging earlier in the build. Pipework has been made but won’t be fitted until after the top coat. Boiler bands from Scotch Magic Tape. The chassis has now had brakes fitted, which wasn’t easy as the holes in the frames were in the wrong place, which as Nick pointed out would have been an easy fix if I’d bothered to check before I built it! It now awaits a couple of final details, including the prominent balance weights, which would have been nice to have on the etch, but can be made from 5 thou plastic on the compass cutter.
