Very interesting. I, like Iain Rice, never got on well with AG’s plunger pick-ups. Now perhaps I know why and should have persevered. I do not get on at all with pick-ups having tried most (published) types in the past 40 years or so. My only successes have been with split axles. So I am madly (yes, I must be mad) converting locos to radio control but it is a slow process and a new learning curve!
I like your idea of using the spare motor screw hole on HL gearboxes for a torque reaction arm; I have not seen that before and it should simplify fitting a lot.
