A truly hideous session yesterday saw the crankpin retaining bushes fouling the underside of the cast valences. Trying to create a bit of clearance with a burr in the mini drill I managed to go right through the footplate, so, next step, a new footplate. I now have a new 10 thou brass footplate, without valences etc., so far, which should at least help with the clearance issues… I really should have sold off the GEM part of this kit and scratchbuilt the loco, using the Branchlines chassis and detailing kit. Too late for that now. Photo’s in due course, once my mess-up has been corrected !
