Update:
With the coupling rod bush and the small end filed down wafer thin there was still no clearance at all, so we move into the sphere of bodgery, and the cylinders are now around 18 thou further from the frames, courtesy of spacers made from spare chassis etch. I also had to remove the double layer boss from the front end of the coupling rod, but got there in the end, and it runs well, though I’m alarmed by excessive motor end float and am considering drifting the front bearing in slightly to reduce the fore and aft motion of the shaft.
