Hi Graham, i don’t know if you have tried Hob-E-Lube HL657 White Grease? It is a Woodland Scenic product that contains Teflon – it seems to help with smooth running and reduces noise – at least with plastic geared locos. I don’t think really quiet running is possible with these locos, there always seems to be some gear noise
