There is a reference to part 59ZY in Newsletter 127 (February 1998). It is in the Trade News section and it seems this is intended to provide a 2mm split axle for bogie and pony wheels, so not what you need for a 57xx.
EMGS Manual 3,2,6 (8) covers the conversion of the later split-axle 57xx with 6mm axles (bushes part 59A3B). earlier examples including the Mainline ones have 5mm axles and these are covered in Manual 3.2.2 (0) sheets 3 and 4 (bush part 5920). The shorting frets can be used as with the 6mm bushes.
I haven’t checked the current stock position in EMGS stores, so I hope the relevant parts are still available.
I have to say my split-axle Mainline and Bachmann are fairly noisy, so if you have got them to be quiet I’d be pleased to hear your experience.
