David, many thanks for the extra detail, much appreciated. Certainly a few extra finessing steps for me to try. Surprisingly the model I’ve fitted the pickups to (a lowly old Jameson freelance shunter) ran ok. Beginners luck I think but I’m going to change things a bit to include your suggestions. The build was supposed to be a quickie while I’m doing something a bit more complicated. Ha! I need to do something to stabilise the gearbox so I’ll probably pinch the torque arm bracket idea as well.
