David, your comments on the variety of the pickups rings a few bells and explains some of my confusion. The original pack. i.e. the ones I broke most of the legs on, I got direct from AGW but it was probably a few years ago. As I’d had such poor success with these I resorted to our local friendly (!) auction site for further supplies and was surprised by the variety that arrived – different spring lengths, separate heads and posts for the plungers, different wire sizes for the posts. I wondered if some were actually 7mm fittings although all the packets carried the same stock code. Still caveat emptor and all that. I think I may consign the collection to the museum.
Thanks for the additional photo of the torque arm. I see how that fits and works and will definitely give it a go. I’ve got all the bits and pieces to try CSB on my next build. The mechanics are fine, I just need to understand how much of the maths I need to absorb!
