Not long now until Scaleforum 2025 so lets start to look at some of the many attractions that are at the exhibition.

Lets start with Brettell Road by Jim Smith-Wright.

Brettell Road is a P4 layout based very loosely on the real Brettell Lane in the Black Country. Set in the late 1950s, the layout uses the idea that the route from Dudley to Stourbridge was originally adopted from the original Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway (known locally as The Old Worse and Worse) by the LMS rather than the GWR, meaning it’s got a more Midland feel than the real location.
The buildings and features are all based on local prototypes with some adaptation. Originally Jim started the layout as a little plaything to have at home and a test bed to try out ideas. The layout’s modelling sets the scene in a late October evening on a rainy night. As such all the scenery and stock has been weathered to look wet.
