Report from Hubert Carr:

I now have quite a few new items rolling off the development line including a roof rainstrip jig and also a system consisting of axleboxes which slide in the W-Irons and contain fine rubber springs within the axlebox. Details of these will be published soon and will be featured in the next EMGS Newsletter. In the meantime you may like to hear about the following:

Coach bogies: These simple etchings fold up to provide a frame onto which cosmetic sides may be glued so as to enable bogies to be made up quickly and accurately. The bogies are suspended from swing links that impart that prototypical sway so typical of period coaches. The pivot is a short vertical shaft that ensures a low friction bearing and prevents that unrealistic rocking of toy trains.

Available for 7ft, 8ft, 8ft 6ins, 9ft and 10ft (need to be specified) £3.20p. per pair

Coach Underframes: Contain 2 brass channels, etched brass fret containing the cross-members, and bogie bearing housings. Fixing brackets are also supplied. Truss rods, brakes, and other fittings are not supplied. The system is based upon 2 longitudinal brass channels onto which the etched cross members are soldered at appropriate intervals. Brackets are also provided for attachment to the coach body. Vertical bearings for the bogie swivel posts are provided in the bogie kits.

Available as up to 62ft length and over 62ft (need to be specified) £6.80p (There needs to be some adjustment here in the price, as the longer ones require a special order and cost more - but I will leave it for the moment.)

Sprung Buffers: Buffer springing is not just a gimmick for fly-shunting, but does enable coaches and wagons to be close coupled and still negotiate tight curves. However, it doesn't matter how well finished, solid buffers always look like solid buffers. This range of cast buffer stocks together with turned heads and shanks gives the modeller a variety of castings not previously available. Currently only 4 types in stock the GWR 2ft long for early Coaches and Brown Vehicles, plus 3 private owner types (Turton & Platt coned; Turton & Platt cone cylinder; Colemans Mustard van). Final tests and hopefully production of cored castings is about to start. £2.30 per set.

Postage and packing is £1.50p on the first item ordered with 25p per each subsequent item.
